So since I was pretty much stuck indoors this weekend from due to cold and snow, I figured I'd work on the K98 :D

A clean and shiny new gun always seems wrong to me somehow

Slainte!

Andy's Airsoft has got six k98's just arrived today, just working out a final price, which will be reasonable, if you still want one book one now, either post here or PM me.

OK just got a price for one of these beauties, at £85, you can't complain, I can bring them to the F&O site this weekend. I'll bring the one I've bought along so poeple can have a look and make their own minds up. Apparently its a lovely piece of work, Andy was well impressed, so if you want one let me know as there's only four left.

Anyone else apart from Steve D want one of these, need to know now as I'm picking them up in the morning at 10am, need your UKARA number as well as your £85, and I'll bring them to the Hertgen Forrest event

In progress actually- likely completed this weekend, after some more Christmas shopping.

But I did get to the buttplate and stock discs today to take them back to 'the white' as suggested by the K98 experts :D

I'm glad there will be some more of these out there, did you guys also get extra shell casings? I need to order some of those.

Slainte!

Well I got one last week off Chris, its nice, but.... the drawback is it ejects a shell for every round you fire, so unless you catch all the shells you will be out of rounds after 5 shots, its a little underpowered at 320 fps too, but makes a nice prop, on a plus point I am 99% sure you can shoe horn a VSR into it, then you would have somthing tunable up to 500fps & beyond & with 55 shots if you got a VSR hi cap

Steve.D

now where did I put my VSR, hacksaw & dremil...............

Let me know how you get on with the new mag, gonna model mine up in the mean time same as Guinness's, fit it with a scope try and upgrade the spring and use it purely for sniper work with 4.3's until I find a way to fit the new mag.

I was looking at putting a Mp-001 in it but the VSR has a slightly bigger cylinder & is more powerful & takes all the laylax parts, I think I could use the VSR reciever, bolt, trigger assembley, mag, hop & inner barrel, with it all fitted the only noticable diffrence should be the bolt handle & the mag visible under the stock, scope wise I will fit somthing big so it looks similar to this with highish mounts rather than the small ZF41, a VSR reciever is easy to mount a scope on,

Just been working on mine over the weekend, had it stripped right down, should be able to upgrade the spring easily enough, sanded down all the metalwork, got the butt plate down to white and the locking eye, got it looking very aged. Looks very good, going to give it a coat of ebony varnish/stain when I get a chance, the more I look at this and play around with it the more I'm happy with it. Going to increase the range signifigantly, as it's very underpowered, just going to buy a few more shells and completely fill my K98 pouches with them. I'll use it exclusively as a sniper weapon with sight, the increased range should keep everyone at bay and you can always work in pairs with a partner using an automatic. All round very impressed with this gun for the money. All the metal parts make it feel quite weighty, I'll mastick some lead inside the butt to give it a bit more weight at the back, but overall the look and feel of this is lovely. I'll post some piccies when I varnish the stock and butt, ect and post a final when I mount the scope.

You nearly sold me on it there Stubblehopper, but I still can`t forgive the Chinese for making it a shell ejector. Trouble is the damn thing looks so nice... :D

It is nice, I can't see a problem with this at all, upgrade the spring, easily enough done, fill your K98 pouches with shells, mount a scope, use 4.3 BB's and you've got a weapon that will out range everyone else.

looking at converting real Mauser empty cases for this, should be quite easy to do, as the Dboyi's shells seem to be the same caliber as the real steel K98 7.96. Need to drill a hole in the rear of the casing and solder a brass tube to take the BB's, should be able to make as many as you want in no time at all.

OK here's my Tanaka K98 alongside the Deboyi's, choose for yourselves which is which, been firing the Deboyi's using 4.3G BB's and the range seems to have increased a fair bit, still haven't had time to change the spring, with christmas and all. got to say the thing looks and feels great, used some Ronseal Wallnut woodstain on the plastic, which tookvery nicely, no complaints when you consider how much a Tanaka K98 costs compared to the £85 I paid for the Dboyi's, weighs and feels very similar to the Tanaka, believe it or not.
